Milwaukee gets cheap airfare competition
Gotta love Southwest Airlines. Every time they add a new city to their schedule, the fares of all airlines drop. It even has an official name, called the “Soutwest Effect” by some big wig economics professor. Although discount carrier AirTran has been building up a focus city hub in Milwaukee, Southwest Airlines brings their big guns to town this week promising cheap airfare without having to drive all the way to Chicago (an especially daunting task during the winter). Southwest’s fares have already forced United, American, Delta, and Continental to cut their fares in Milwaukee, and it’s only going to get better as Southwest expands their number of flights there.
