Mexican Coffee on your Cancun Vacation
Yes, there are Starbucks in Cancun. All over, in fact, ho-hum. Starbucks is relatively new to Cancun, but espresso and cappacino are not. Mexicans have been growing coffee here since the early 1800’s, and there have always been European style coffee shops here (remember, though, that Cancun is less than 50 years old). You’ll find good espresso and lattes in almost every hotel lobby or coffee shop, and even some curb-side carts. But a Mexican favorite to enjoy on your Cancun vacation is “cafe de olla” which literally means “coffee from the pot”, which in this case means it brews all day long in a big pot, with more coffee and water added as needed. It also contains cinnamon and cloves, and is rich and delicious.
