Mountain Climbing Gear for Descending

The Petzl Huit Figure-Eight descender is another essential Mountain Climbing Gear. It is also called descender belay or rappel device. Belays are designed to arrest a fall by acting as a friction brake. They typically are attached to the harness through a carabiner. The Petzl Huit Figure-Eight is designed to help a climber descend on a single or double rope, which are sized from 8mm to 13mm. This descender is made of super strong forged aluminum and it has a hole which can be used for thin ropes as a belay plate. The square shape of the belay reduces the twisting of the ropes.
