Canal Caps as Hearing Protection
There are some instances that hazardous noise levels must be reduced. Personal hearing protection has to be considered to prevent noise injury hearing loss in an exposed personnel.
This is where canal caps come into play. They often resemble earplugs on a flexible plastic or metal band. The earplug tips of a canal cap may be a formable or pre-molded material.
Canal caps are sometimes called semi-aural plugs that generally have rounded tips that cover the entrance to the ear canal, while semi-insert plugs generally have tapered tips that are pushed into the ear canal. Both types are convenient for situations where the hearing protection has to be taken on and off frequently.
