Alzheimers linked to high blood pressure
A clear link has been shown between degenerative mental conditions like Alzheimers and high blood pressure. The reason is obvious: hypertension reduces blood flow to the brain. This not only reduces the brain’s supply of oxygen and other nutritional elements but also increases levels of toxic waste in the brain.
The lack of blood flow causes breakages in tiny blood vessels in the hippocampus, the part of the brain responsible for memory. The result is microscopic bleeding which leads to Alzheimers.
The incidence of late-onset Alzheimers was reduced by half in people taking anti-hypertensive drugs. However, keeping blood pressure down naturally no doubt produces the best result.
